What YDL means

Youth Development League: development comes first.

YDL is Pure Ambition’s structured basketball development league for boys in grades 3–8. It combines intentional training with scheduled competition, so players learn skills and game decisions before being asked to apply them under pressure.

Your first step is a free player evaluation.

Choose a preferred evaluation date. Arrive 15 minutes early and enter through the gym door. Families receive placement and next-step information within 48–72 hours.

The BAER Foundation may provide partial YDL assistance through a confidential, documented review process. Applying does not affect evaluation placement or coaching decisions.

What to know before you arrive.

What happens at the evaluation?

Athletes move through athletic movement, ball skills, finishing, shooting, decision-making, and competitive play. Coaches use a consistent rubric and provide a placement recommendation.

What is the enrollment commitment?

Enrollment covers the full season. Tuition is $1,000, paid in four scheduled installments of $250: when the family accepts its roster placement, October 1, November 1, and December 1. There is no registration fee, and the reversible jersey and mesh shorts are included. Enrollment is not prorated or withdrawable; exceptional circumstances are reviewed case by case.

Are games separate from practice?

Games replace the normal Wednesday training session on six published dates within the Monday/Wednesday schedule.

Does an evaluation guarantee enrollment?

No. Evaluation helps Pure Ambition confirm readiness and group players well. Families receive a clear next step within 48–72 hours.

What happens if a 7th–8th grader joins his school basketball team?

Making a school team does not automatically change enrollment. If the school-team schedule conflicts with YDL, the Director will review the athlete’s readiness, schedule, availability, and fit. With Director approval, the athlete may transition into Performance Lab or receive an approved adjustment under the school-team conflict policy.
